In the current ranking “Germany’s Best Lawyers”, published by Handelsblatt in cooperation with the U.S. specialist publisher Best Lawyers®, BRP RENAUD achieved its strongest result to date: 31 lawyers were recommended across a total of 17 different practice areas — 26 times as “Best Lawyers,” 6 times as “Ones to Watch,” as well as one “Lawyer of the Year” distinction.
BRP RENAUD is pleased to announce the following recommendations:Our special congratulations go to Dr. Roman Wexler-Uhlich, who was named “Lawyer of the Year” in the field of Litigation in Baden-Württemberg — an honor awarded to only one individual per practice area and region.
This year’s ranking also reflects the growth of the firm. Several colleagues who joined BRP RENAUD only recently were recognized immediately: Dr. Simon Schmauder, who together with Dr. Simon Gollasch has been responsible for antitrust counseling at BRP RENAUD since autumn 2025, was recommended as a Best Lawyer in antitrust and competition law — while Dr. Simon Gollasch received a distinction as Ones to Watch in the same category. Hans Thomas Kessler, who moved to the firm’s Frankfurt office from PwC Legal with his team at the beginning of 2026, received a recommendation in real estate law — an honor he has held continuously since 2009. Eike Frederik Neugebauer, who also joined the Frankfurt office from an international major law firm in May 2026, was recognized for his expertise in banking and finance law as well as project finance and development.
We are particularly pleased that Dr. Michael Frank and Esther Klingelhöfer were both recognized for the first time as “Ones to Watch” — alongside Carsten Gnewikow, Dr. Simon Gollasch, Polina Hufen, and Thurid Schädel, who received this recommendation once again. This category recognizes promising lawyers who have generally been in practice for between three and nine years and have already established an excellent reputation.
For the 18th time, the U.S. publisher Best Lawyers® has identified Germany’s most renowned legal professionals across various practice areas. In an extensive peer-to-peer process, lawyers are asked which colleagues outside their own firm they would recommend if they were unable to take on a mandate themselves. The resulting ranking, “Germany’s Best Lawyers,” was published in excerpts exclusively in Handelsblatt in June 2026. The Best Lawyers® recommendation list has been published in the United States for more than 25 years and is regarded there as the market leader in evaluating attorneys.
